In October, we are taking part in the Pink Window Parade organised by ABC Jersey to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a worldwide campaign during the month of October. The initiative started in the USA in 1992 and is now a widespread event.

The goal is to:

  • Educate the public about breast cancer,
  • Promote early detection through screening,
  • Raise fund for research and support services.

In France, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is calledOctobre Rose” (Pink October).

Across Normandy, a number of initiatives and events are taking place such as dedicated sporting events (trail, races…). Here’s a few examples:

  • Calvados County: Run’in Rose – 11/12 October – Merville-Franceville
  • La Manche County: Les roses de la Manche – 5 October – Avranches
  • L’Orne County: Les Elles de l’Orne – 12 October – Alençon
  • Seine-Maritime County: Rando Rose – 11 October – Forges les Eaux
  • L’Eure County: Le Bosrou’mois Rose – 3, 4, 5 October – Bosroumois

A lot more events are organised (photo exhibitions, conferences, lighting of buildings, shop windows decoration…).

Charities, institutions from the private and public sectors, local authorities such as towns, County Councils or Regional Councils are all involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We are proud to take part in this important initiative and hope you’ll enjoy our pink window.
