A Grand Départ for La Manche in Normandy

The departure and first stages of the Tour de France 2016 will take place in La Manche in Normandy. 198 cyclists will race between 2nd and 4th July on hundreds of kilometers in La Manche county. From 26th June to 4th July, the 22 teams selected for the Tour de France will be under the spotlights. Amongst these teams three cyclists originate from La Manche in Normandy : Amaël Moinard, Anthony Delaplace and Mikaël Chérel. The first stage will start from Mont saint-Michel and arrive in Utah Beach. The second stage will go from Saint-Lô to Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and the first major challenge of the Tour de France 2016 for the peloton will be the hill at La Glacerie. Finally, the third and last stage in La Manche will go from Granville to Angers, in Loire Valley. Each stage goes through lots of towns and villages.

The Tour de France 2016 is a worldwide sporting event

Normandy is proud to welcome such an important worldwide sporting event. To celebrate this great cycling race, entertainment will be organized in each stage town in La Manche.
